Prayer Gathering for Peace

Interfaith Gathering to Pray for Peace

On Wednesday November 5 at 7pm, Greater Anderson Promotes Peace (GAPP) and Eastern Hills Friends Meeting will host a gathering to pray for peace in the Middle East. Everyone is invited to join us at the Friends Meeting House, located at 1671 Nagel Rd. in Anderson Township.

“The news of violence in our communities and conflict overseas is distressing and seemingly endless. Alone, we feel powerless to respond, but together we affirm that the desire for peace is strong and that God’s love and light may enter where we cannot,” said Anderson resident Martha Viehmann, a member of the Friends Meeting and a co-director of GAPP.

GAPP and Eastern Hills Friends pray that peace may come wherever violence threatens. In the coming months, other gatherings will focus on a different area of conflict. Another Interfaith Gathering to Pray for Peace is scheduled for December 3.

In line with Quaker (Friends) practice, the evening will begin in silence; then all who are moved to pray aloud may do so. After prayer, there will be refreshments and time for conversation. All are welcome.
